What cookies and local storage are
Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser. Your browser sends them back to that website on later visits, which lets the site remember things such as the fact that you are signed in. Local storage is a similar browser feature that keeps information on your device; unlike a cookie, it is not sent to the website automatically.
This Cookie Policy explains the cookies and local storage used on the website, client portal and crew portal run by Elite Captures, doing business as Elite Captures (“we”, “us” or “our”). Please read it together with our Privacy Policy.
Cookies we use
We use only the cookies listed below. All of them are first-party cookies, which means our own website sets them. None of them tracks you on other websites.
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| ec_session | Keeps a client, crew member or studio user signed in. Set only when you sign in. It is marked httpOnly, so scripts running on the page cannot read it. | Essential | Up to 14 days, or until you sign out |
| ec_theme | Remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. | Preference | 1 year |
| ec_flash | Shows a one-time confirmation message after you complete an action, such as saving a form, and is deleted once the message appears. | Essential | 30 seconds or less |
| __prerender_bypass | Lets studio staff preview unpublished changes to the website (Next.js draft mode). Set only for signed-in studio staff who open a preview. | Essential | Session (deleted when the browser closes) |
| __next_preview_data | Works with the cookie above to show draft content to studio staff who are previewing changes. | Essential | Session (deleted when the browser closes) |
Essential cookies are needed for a feature you ask for, such as signing in or previewing website changes, and that feature cannot work without them. Preference cookies remember a choice you made, such as light or dark mode.
Local storage
Studio staff who edit website pages get an automatic backup of their unsaved edits in their browser’s local storage, so work is not lost if the browser closes unexpectedly. The backup stays on that device, is used for nothing else, and is removed when the edits are saved or discarded. We do not use local storage for visitors, clients or crew.
No advertising or analytics cookies
We do not use advertising cookies, third-party analytics, social media pixels or any other technology that tracks you across websites. Because we use only essential and preference cookies, a cookie consent banner is not required, so we do not show one.
Controlling cookies
You can still control cookies in your browser. Most browsers let you see the cookies a site has set, delete them, and block cookies for all sites or for specific sites. Look for the cookie or site data options in your browser’s privacy or security settings; your browser’s help pages explain the exact steps.
If you block or delete our cookies:
- you will not be able to sign in to the client or crew portal, because signing in needs the ec_session cookie, and deleting it signs you out;
- the website will forget your light or dark mode choice and follow your device’s setting; and
- confirmation messages may not appear after you complete an action.
Cookies set by other companies
Stripe checkout. When you pay an invoice, you complete the payment on Stripe’s hosted checkout page on stripe.com. Stripe sets its own cookies there to process your payment and prevent fraud. Stripe controls those cookies, and its privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy explains how it uses them.
Embedded video. We do not currently embed video players from other companies. If we add one in the future, the player may set its own cookies when you press play. We will list it on this page before we add it.
Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising. We do none of these, and none of our cookies is used for them. Our Privacy Policy explains more.
Changes to this policy
If we change the cookies we use, we will update this page and its “Last updated” date. We will ask for your consent before we add any non-essential cookie, meaning any cookie other than the essential and preference cookies described above, such as an analytics, advertising or social media cookie.
